Bridal makeup is all about embracing a fresh, ethereal, and slightly “amped up” natural version of yourself that brings out your inner and outer beauty – making you feel confident and ready for anything on your big day. This year at New York Bridal Fashion Week, we saw trendy (and very doable) variations on beautiful classic bridal makeup. After attending numerous shows where top bridal designers worldwide debuted their newest collections for spring 2017 in NYC, these looks stood out the most as our beauty editor’s pick – best makeup looks.
This season we saw an abundance of classic red lips, dewy natural skin, trending blue eye shadows, dark sultry eyes, and masterfully done Avant-garde looks. When it comes to covering a full spectrum of makeup styles, INGLOT cosmetics had fashion week covered. Check out some of their hottest looks of the season here with products used listed to recreate these looks for whatever the occasion may be here.
Throughout 2016, red lips have been the single most prominent makeup trend. As beautiful as classic strong red lips are (on those who can pull it off), they can be a challenge to incorporate with softer and more youthful looks.
When I was selected to beauty direct Peter Langner’s fashion show in NYC this past March, I wanted to design a makeup look that not only made a statement based off of current makeup trends, but also one that would beautifully compliment his new bridal and evening collections – I had to design a uniform look that would be elegant and appropriate for both his bridal collection and the evening gowns that started the show.
For bridal, the make up look is typically a soft smoky eye and a soft pink or rose neutral lip. Evening makeup has a greater range for variability and creativity – recently where nude or strong red lips with more prominent smoky eyes (oftentimes including a pop of color that compliments the dress) are common. The look I created was a softer version of the classic red lip and smoky eye – whereupon I used a much more sheer blue-toned red lipstick and kept the smoky eye very clean and tight. Lancôme (our official makeup and skincare sponsor) fully endorsed the look I designed, and provided a number of Lancôme products for the show – allowing me to recreate the look with my team on 12 models.
This look got so much positive feedback that I wanted to share the look with my readers. Follow my detailed steps below to recreate this look yourself – a look not only appropriate for your wedding day, but also for an evening out on the town
This year we saw a number of striking red carpet makeup styles at the Met Gala. Looks ranged from the iconic red lip and tight smoky eye (a look that has been trending throughout 2016) to a beautifully done super natural look. Great makeup is achieved through a number of factors – choice of seasonal and age-appropriate colors, placement and precise application of makeup, and through successfully creating an overall look that enhances one’s natural features and/or adds a complimentary element to one’s style. Keeping the aforementioned criteria in mind, check out here what I feel are this year’s top celebrity makeup styles.
Spring makeup trends were highlighted beautifully this year at the Oscars. Many actresses came with red or nude lips, soft smoky eyes, illuminated skin, and long lashes. As we have seen throughout the 2016 award season, red lips in particular have been the single most popular look among celebrities – a trend that would look beautiful on upcoming spring and summer brides. Out of all of the makeup looks presented this year, check out my article here to see what looks were perfectly on point.
Every season during New York Fashion Week, fashion designer Pamella DeVos of Pamella Roland releases an astounding line of gowns and dresses. This fall 2016 collection was strong and luxurious – showcasing numerous pieces created with sequins, beading, cashmere, and fur. The design was graphically strong and elegant – utilizing an assortment of mostly deep rich fall colors. Shades of black, pewter, midnight blue and deep red tone predominated.
As with every Pamella Roland runway show I have attended in the past, the makeup, hair, and styling was perfectly on point. Models wore a gorgeous collection of Chopard jewelry that beautifully accentuated the collection. Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson created a sleek hair statement with graphic mesh hairnets over tightly pulled-back hair. Makeup artist Rick DiCecca continued the elegant warrior look with a neutral tawny face with matte nude lips and graphic black eyeliner that really stood out using Artistry Cosmetics. Once again, Pamella Roland’s New York Fashion Week delivered the luxurious fashions that her women love! Take a look at this article here for my favorite picks from this season’s runway show!
